Hastings, A Fishing Village

This is one of the LAST installment of the Allitt’s European Adventure! Today is Saturday and we leave on Monday, tomorrow will be a packing day and we just might take the kids to the Lego movie since we didn’t see it before we left. We are going to check out the church where we got married as well and let the kids see it. But today was our last real site seeing day. We went to Hastings, it is a little sea side fishing village. We took a tour through the Smugglers Caves. These caves were used for over 100 years, boats would come in with all their naughty things that were not allowed, Tea, Booze, Lace, tobacco and it would be hidden in the caves before sold on the black market. Very interesting, in a 4 year span over 2 million gallons of gin and 1.5 million pounds of Tea came through Hastings…in JUST 4 YEARS…crazy!
We took this cable car type thing up the cliffs to get to the caves, then took a walk sea side, had an ice cream and Trac and Dawn bought fresh fish from the market. Talk about fresh, brought in the back door from the boat and sold out the front door. YUM!! The town was super fun, lots of musicians walking around with amps, guitars, and drum sticks. Lots of very eclectic shops, and tons of pubs and tea houses. Once the sun came out, it made for a warm day by the ocean!
